laser spot displacement and bilateral thickness measurement algorithm development
laser spot displacement and bilateral thickness measurement algorithms are developed to measure height, stroke, runout and sheet thickness in specified directions. It combines light point/contour observation with distance calibration, reference baseline and synchronization information to output defined physical quantities; it does not directly rename the pixel center, side height or single frame coordinates to thickness.
Project Judgment Summary
Process tasks and input
Point changes need to first prove the relationship with the real distance. Thickness measurement also requires common datums on both sides and corresponding points. Material swing, inclination and frame temperature drift will all affect the results.
Input requirements: point image or calibration points/contours on both sides, distance/displacement true values, sending and receiving geometry or applicable distance calibration, public reference, time/position correspondence, material and temperature conditions.
| Function | processing content | current base |
|---|---|---|
| Point distance relationship development | Select point-ray intersection or one-dimensional nonlinear calibration based on the optical path, and verify the range, surface inclination, speckle and edge mixing points. | Point ranging model to be developed |
| Bilateral thickness model | Unify the coordinates and reference spacing on both sides, calculate the thickness based on the effective surface at the same position/time, and supplement the inclination and thermal drift processing. | Bilateral calibration and simultaneous thickness measurement are yet to be developed. |
| Variation and Tolerance Analysis | Output thickness/displacement trends, out-of-tolerance candidates and invalid data by position or time, and dynamic tasks also check the sampling bandwidth. | The statistical basis can be reused; the thickness business needs to be developed |
Output content
| result | unit or form | Instructions for use |
|---|---|---|
| Displacement/Thickness | mm and corresponding time/position | Annotate actual coverage of point, cross-section or lateral distribution separately |
| status and reference | Calibration residuals, synchronization and baseline status | If any key prerequisite is missing, the effective thickness will not be output. |
| Trend and out-of-tolerance candidates | Original curve, threshold and position | Process alarms do not replace equipment safety controls |
Applicable conditions and boundaries
Applicable tasks: opaque sheet thickness, designated point height/stroke, shaft or roller surface runout, and specially verified soft/transparent materials.
The existing laser plane interface cannot be directly used as a point-ray distance algorithm. The height of one side is not equal to the thickness; the effective surface, coating thickness and total thickness of transparent multi-layers need to be modeled separately; the camera method is not equivalent to laser Doppler vibration measurement.
Verification basis and delivery scope
There are light point positioning, line contours and partial regression/uncertainty foundations; point ranging, bilateral same-point correspondence, rack thermal drift and product thickness measurement core have not yet formed a complete verification system.
First complete the PoC for a single material family and a clear measuring range, then develop the distance/thickness model, input interface, calibration formula and exception handling, and deliver an independent measuring tool comparison report.
Requirement confirmation information: Provide thickness/displacement range, error requirements, accessibility on both sides, material transparency/roughness, speed, calibration true value and interface data.
FAQ
Does bilateral thickness measurement only require the subtraction of two readings?
No. It is necessary to unify the coordinates, direction, baseline and synchronization relationship of the same point first to avoid pairing readings at different positions or failed surfaces.
Can the transparent film be measured directly after the metal sheet has been verified?
Cannot be inherited directly. Transparent multi-reflection, refraction and effective surface identification require independent imaging and magnitude verification.
