Cover assembly gap and surface difference detection application plan

This solution simultaneously identifies the surfaces on both sides of the joint in the agreed cross-section, calculates the seam width and surface difference, and is used for assembly geometry inspection of cover plates, covering parts and assembled panels.

Prerequisites for implementationAssembly sections, edge and datum definitions, samples of different surface materials and reference values
Current status:Application plan, no customer on-site acceptance record has been formed

Tasks and image input

Seam widths and surface height differences are not the same quantity; chamfers, steep walls, and side occlusions can distort simple edge distances.

Input data: Laser section across the seam, datum definition for both sides, standard gaps/steps and physical material combinations.

Algorithm processing and output

Valid contour segment association→surface fitting on both sides→joint boundary→gap/face difference→rejection when there is no reliable reference.

Output results: seam width, surface difference, section position, reference segment and valid status; the results retain the calibration and recipe versions.

Implementation and verification

Develop segmentation and datum rules by seam pattern, adapt image or calibrated contour input and report.

Verification method: Use gauges, gauge blocks or three-dimensional coordinates to compare the same section, and agree on the gap error, surface difference error and effective section rate respectively.

Applicable boundaries and existing basis

Zero gaps, transparent and black shiny surfaces require special confirmation; missing one side of the reference should not default to a qualified output.

The existing line extraction and plane geometry do not equal the physical quantity verification that has been completed for this assembly task.

Corresponding algorithm:Laser line extraction and cross-section geometry measurement algorithm。

Enterprise project promotion and acceptance

  1. scope confirmationClarify the objects, workstations, inputs, outputs, units, interfaces and abnormal conditions that must be covered.
  2. Sample verificationUse representative normal and abnormal samples to establish a baseline and record what works, what fails, and data gaps.
  3. Development joint debuggingComplete the algorithm, calibration, interface and equipment adaptation according to the approved scope, and retain the version, parameters and abnormal status.
  4. Item acceptanceUse independent samples and reference value retests to confirm errors, detection, tempo, stability and deliverables respectively.
