Device Algorithm Licensing and Maintenance Services

For equipment manufacturers, system integrators and enterprise projects, algorithm cooperation is divided into sample verification, first-type adaptation, equipment operation license and continuous service. Each stage confirms the goals, delivery, acceptance, costs and responsibilities respectively to facilitate the reuse of existing research and development results for batch equipment.

Cooperation mode

The typical cooperation path is "paid feasibility verification → first type development and acceptance → equipment operation license → annual maintenance or continuous optimization". Enterprises can start with sample verification based on the maturity of the project, or they can conduct problem recurrence and upgrade assessments on existing equipment and software versions.

module Purchase of work or rights Typical delivery Need to be confirmed separately
Sample verification Determine technical feasibility based on agreed data and indicators Data list, technical route, results, failure samples and conclusions Production deployment, equipment operating rights and follow-up phases
First-of-its-kind Complete joint debugging of agreed platforms, interfaces, parameters and equipment Software version, configuration, interface, testing and handover information Unlimited models, unlimited platforms and complete hardware
Equipment operating license Use delivered versions within the scope of enrollment entities, devices, and scenarios License scope, device and version ledger, recovery rules Source code transfer, redistribution and unregistered devices
annual service Provide maintenance, review, optimization and controlled updates to the original scope Service records, regression results, release and recovery instructions New scenarios, first-time model building and unlimited engineering time

Projects can use long-term running licenses for designated versions, or annual running subscriptions for evaluation equipment. The specific method depends on the equipment batch size, offline requirements, operation and maintenance capabilities and procurement mode. The formal quotation lists the time limit, quantity, scenario, version and restrictions.

From verification to delivery stage

  1. Requirements and data checks: Confirm the scenarios, products, samples, indicators, platforms, interfaces, device quantities and data permissions, and formulate verification work instructions.
  2. Sample feasibility verification: Fixed data and evaluation caliber, compared technical routes, and delivered technical conclusions that are feasible, conditionally feasible, or currently unfeasible.
  3. First type development and joint debugging: Complete the agreed algorithm combination, input and output, abnormal status, parameters, logs and target device access.
  4. Independent acceptance and commercial launch: Use reserved samples or agreed work stations to retest the effect, time consumption and stability to confirm the delivery version and official launch date.
  5. Replication deployment and annual service: Register licenses for devices with the same configuration and reuse the accepted version. Subsequent optimization will be performed according to the service scope and change process.

After the sample verification is completed, both parties will confirm whether to enter the first-type implementation, equipment licensing and annual service stages based on the technical conclusions.

Equipment operating license

The device license registers at least the customer subject, device or workstation identification, algorithm scenario, delivery version, execution master, camera and concurrency limit. Under the same software, formula and deployment conditions, subsequent equipment can reuse existing research and development, but still needs to confirm the license and necessary copy and deployment work.

The long-term running license of the designated version covers registered equipment, agreed scenarios and delivered versions; after the annual service is stopped, whether the running rights of the authorized version will continue shall be subject to the terms of the contract. The annual running subscription is renewed according to the agreed period, and the offline validity period, reminders, buffering and expiration disposal are confirmed before deployment.

Device-level issuance, offline recovery, machine replacement, old license cancellation and version rollback are designed according to the target platform, network conditions and operation and maintenance requirements, and verified on the agreed equipment.

Operation, maintenance and continuous optimization

Operational maintenance is used for problem acceptance, recurrence, repair, retesting and version recording of the original delivery scope. Continuous optimization can review real samples, false detections and missed detections, measurement errors, rejections, time consumption and operation logs at the agreed frequency to form confirmed optimization tasks.

The optimization process is: Confirmation of problems and samples → Reproduction and cause location → Confirmation of tasks and passing standards → Modification or testing → Regression of old and new data → Controlled trial operation → Customer confirmation of updates. The updated version passes regression verification before entering production.

Service levels can be agreed based on equipment groups, shared project time, review frequency, and original scene optimization rounds. The first response means acceptance and arrangement, and does not mean that the solution is completed within a fixed time; on-site, 7×24 duty, fixed recovery time limit and real-time telemetry need to be agreed separately.

What changes require reevaluation

change may affect Processing method
New product or new defect type Data distribution, labeling and decision rules First add the sample and confirm whether it is a new scene
Camera, lens, light source or installation changes Imaging ratio, distortion, contrast and calibration Review imaging, recalibrate and accept if necessary
Computing platform or operating system changes Dependencies, capabilities, interfaces and license bindings Evaluate porting, resources and compatibility testing
Accuracy, tempo or concurrency improvements Methods, hardware and acceptance difficulty Re-baseline and confirm incremental development
The number of devices or configuration branches increases Licensing, deployment, maintenance and version management Add device registration or create an independent service group
New functions, interfaces or data loops Software Scope, Permissions and Responsibilities Form change orders and independent acceptance items

If existing problems belong to the original scope of software defects, they should be handled according to the warranty or maintenance agreement; for changes in requirements and new capabilities, the content, construction period, cost and acceptance method should be confirmed before implementation.

Acceptance and delivery records

Use independent delivery and acceptance records at each stage to avoid using sample verification results as a substitute for production acceptance.

  • Sample verification records data versions, indicators, technical routes, results, failed samples, limitations and recommendations for the next stage.
  • The first type acceptance records software and configuration versions, hardware environment, interfaces, effects, time-consuming, stability and exception handling.
  • The device license records the subject, device, scenario, version, quantity, period, replacement and recovery rules.
  • Annual service logs work orders, samples, analysis, optimization, old and new comparisons, releases, recoveries and pending matters.

Fees and payment nodes shall correspond to the above deliveries. R&D, samples and materials, test delivery, equipment licenses, annual service, travel and third-party licenses are itemized, without “blanketing” to cover up scope.

Data, Intellectual Property and Security

Customer images, logs, annotations and process data are only used for the agreed purpose. Cross-customer training, case presentation, publicity or providing data to third parties require separate authorization; continuous service is not the same as continuous collection or network monitoring of customer equipment.

The rights of algorithm libraries, project-specific configurations, models, source code, binaries and third-party components are explained separately. Delivery may provide programs or libraries, interfaces, parameters, testing and versioning materials, but does not automatically transfer source code, general intellectual property rights or redistribution rights as a result of device licensing.

Production updates should be performed during the agreed maintenance window, retaining the original available version and configuration, and recording backup and recovery steps. Remote access, log upload, device identity and key management need to be confirmed according to the customer's security system.

FAQ

Can I only purchase a long-term license once and not renew the annual service?

Version long-term running licenses can be specified according to project agreements. After the service expires, whether the authorized version will continue to run and what recovery or replacement work will be required should be stated in the contract; stopping the service does not mean obtaining subsequent versions and new features.

Do we need to repeat research and development when adding equipment for the same algorithm?

Existing research and development results can be reused under the same customers, scenarios, software, parameters and deployment conditions. New devices still require license registration and necessary deployment; hardware, imaging, interface or product differences do not constitute standard copying.

How to evaluate the effectiveness of continuous optimization?

For each optimization, the problem sample, target indicators and passing criteria are first clarified, and then old and new data are used for regression verification. Versions that meet the agreed standards are released according to a controlled process, and the results and limitations are written into service records.

How to deal with the license when changing the main control or repairing the equipment?

The original scope license re-issuance, old equipment cancellation and migration process can be stipulated in the contract. Whether charges will be charged and required labor depends on service status, hardware changes and recovery work, and should be confirmed before execution.

How are fees calculated?

Separate quotations are made based on sample verification, first-type adaptation, device quantity and licensing method, deployment work, annual services and new requirements. The formal quotation sets out the tax amount, validity period, delivery scope, acceptance method and payment node.
