Software integration and algorithms can be assessed first, but their scope depends on the sensor model, firmware, interfaces, documentation and licensing. An existing sensor does not imply access to all raw data or removal of mounting, calibration and on-site verification tasks. Determine whether the work is software-only from actual inputs and required functions.
Identify the available data level
| Available data | Software tasks to assess | Remaining checks |
|---|---|---|
| Raw images | Laser-stripe extraction and image-quality checks | Pixel format, exposure, geometry and calibration conditions |
| Stripe positions in pixels | Position selection and geometric conversion | Coordinates, validity flags and calibration data |
| Geometric contours in engineering units | Contour checks, geometric fitting and dimensions | Units, coordinates, device calibration and valid range |
| Calculated dimensions | Result parsing, rules and business integration | Device algorithm definitions and invalid states |
Provide integration inputs
Provide the complete model, firmware, protocol or SDK, target system, license terms, original output samples and existing application. Explain time, sequence, units, coordinates, invalid values and error codes. A display screenshot alone does not establish accessible data interfaces or accuracy.
Do not assume every task is included
If the device does not expose raw images, do not promise a new pixel-level stripe extractor. Without calibration information or mounting relationships, received pixels are not physical dimensions. Confirm third-party library distribution, driver changes, hardware changes and additional-device support separately, including scope and rights.
Verify the completed software
First check protocol parsing and data completeness, then verify dimensions and business workflows using agreed workpieces, reference methods and operating conditions. Check disconnection, invalid data, parameter changes and recovery separately. The manufacturer's extraction and calibration documentation helps distinguish image data from metric data; it does not establish verified compatibility of any existing device.
