A vision-sample capture plan must connect files to capture conditions and intended tasks. This article describes a proposed capture and handover workflow. Equipment compatibility, sample coverage and target-model performance still require verification with actual devices, scenes and tasks.
Define capture objectives and scope
Specify object classes, scenes, operating modes, difficult conditions and data purposes. Agree on original interface data, viewable images, video segments or synchronized groups. Record uncovered classes or environments as gaps. Duplicate images cannot replace missing scenes.
| Stage | Main records | Possible deliverables |
|---|---|---|
| Capture configuration | Device, version, mode, parameters and time source | Configuration inventory and capture instructions |
| File storage | Identifier, path, format, size and hash | File inventory and source data |
| Metadata association | Sample, origin, conditions and intended use | Metadata table and field definitions |
| Quality checks | Readability, completeness, exceptions and duplicates | Check records and outstanding items |
| Version handover | Additions, revisions, exclusions and reasons | Version record and delivery inventory |
Cross-check files and metadata
Check listed files for existence and readability. Identify unlisted files, duplicate identifiers and missing parameters. A hash checks whether content has changed. It does not establish image usability, correct classes or label quality.
Preserve source references for derived data
Link display images, crops, augmented examples and model-input files to source samples and processing parameters. Preserve originals and revision records rather than overwriting files with the same name. If annotations are unfinished, describe the delivery as unannotated images or examples containing only the agreed metadata.
Confirm delivery in stages
Use a small batch to check formats, fields and usage before expanding capture scope. Prepare training, tuning and independent test data for their separate purposes, recording how related source samples are assigned to those sets. Delivery may include data, configurations, field definitions, quality checks and gap records. Confirm permissions and public-disclosure scope against source documentation.
